- The equal field system had distributed land by the persons profession. It made sure land was spread equally amongst everyone.
- But didn’t last long until Buddhists took more land.
- Bureaucracy made sure the civil service was good. Most members got their position due to their knowledge to serve and strengthen the state.

- Expanded the bureaucracy and had more individuals learning
- As the king gave more to the scholars, the more taxes he had raised.
- As taxes raised, more peasant and lower class men rebelled
- As nomadic people, the Khitan, were another empire spreading quickly and had the Song kingdom to pay a large payment of silk and silver. Then Jurchen soon captured the capital.
How they developed China
- Both developed agriculture when took control of Vietnam.
- Vietnam had good soil, and grew rice fast.
- Used heavier plows and used more animals such as oxen and bulls.
