Discovered by Daoist alchemists while trying to fin an elixir to prolong life
Made up of arsenic, sulfur, saltpeter, and charcoal
Originally used for fireworks but later utilized in military conquests
Main intention was to cause confusion until it was discovered to be able to kill within a close range
Towards the end of the Post Classical era, gunpowder was being used in experimental cannons

Originally carved reverse images into a wooden blocks then pressed that onto paper
People then started to use reusable, movable ideograms that greatly increased the speed of printing
Could now mass produce texts for a very cheap price
Agricultural techniques, religious texts, and laws made up the majority of mass produced written works

Used iron nails, waterproofed boats, watertight bulkheads, canvas bamboo sails, and rudders
These improvements reduced China's dependency on other mariners to bring good into China

A magnetic compass was vital to the accurate travel of the mariners and became very common tool in the Indian Ocean Basin
